Chlorophyll B Chlorophyll A Xanthophyll 1 Xanthophyll 2 Joshua Sipe Biology104 SectionM01 March 4, 2008 Title : Absorption Spectrum for a Chlorophyll Extract Abstract: The objective of this lab was to determine the relationship between chlorophyll extract and the visible light spectrum. Starting at 420nm the chlorophyll extract was placed into a spectrophotometer and the absorbance was recorded. After recording the absorbance, a cuvette with chromatography paper was placed into the spectrophotometer and visible light appeared on the chromatography paper. This process continued until the wavelength reached 680nm. Using the visible light spectrum as a guide, the chlorophyll extract followed the visible light spectrums colors and absorbances which showed the max absorbance at 450nm. Procedure : The basis for this experimental procedure is outlined in Lab Manual Biol104 (Morris,TC3,2008) pgs. 71 No change to procedures were made.
