Chelsea Bertram A39891015 The Big Five and IAT Writing Assignment Section 1 After completing the Big Five test, the first trait evaluated was openness to experience and someone who scores high in this category can be described as “having an appreciation for art, emotion, adventure, ideas, imagination, curiosity, and variety of experience”. I scored in the 24 th percentile range indicating that I am somewhat conventional. Seeing as how I identify myself as a more liberal person, I was surprised by these results and I quickly remembered that this is the most controversial trait. After thinking about it, I realized that the way I conduct my individual life on a day-to-day basis is rather conventional, especially being in college. Going to class every day and having many various assignments can be rather tedious. This often leads me to an auto- pilot mode where I get more work done by limiting my creativity and ideas for individual assignments simply for means of efficiency. In my free time however, I am much more open- minded and curious about the rest of the world. Next was the measurement of the trait conscientiousness which has the basic tendencies of “competence, order, dutifulness, achievement striving, self-discipline, and deliberation”. I wasn’t very surprised with my results which showed that I scored in the 64 th percentile with a basic description of being well-organized and reliable. Although it wasn’t until I began my college career that I really began to care about how well I performed academically, it didn’t take long for me to realize I had to change my study habits drastically. Getting good grades is something I strive for and I’ve learned that in order to achieve this goal it is necessary for me to stay organized and self-disciplined.
