Unformatted text preview: Experiment 8: Interaction of a Lewis Acid with a Lewis Base Name: Fletcher Dostie Experiment Performed: 3/9/09 Turned in: 3/23/09 “I commit to uphold the ideals of honor and integrity by refusing to betray the trust bestowed upon me as a member of the Georgia Tech community.” The data from some of the lab groups was not usable for analysis. In order to obtain results for some of the bases when the data from section I02 was unusable, the data from section J02 was used instead. In most cases, this provided data that could be analyzed successfully. However, for some bases, the data for both sections I02 and J02 was unusable. In these cases, the equilibrium constants for the affected bases could not be determined. This affected the results for 2-methylpyridine and 2,4-dimethylpyridine. For these bases, both sets of data yielded a negative equilibrium constant when analyzed. Because the equilibrium constant could not possibly be negative, both sets of data are incorrect....
