Briefly describe the hazards you should be away of when you work with: (a) Tert-butyl methyl ether Hazards : Can affect you when breathed in which may irritate the nose and throat. It may also be absorbed through the skin and can cause irritation to the skin and eyes. Exposure can result in difficulty concentrating, headache, nausea, dizziness, weakness, and lightheadedness and may also affect the liver and kidneys. Very important is that it is a highly flammable liquid and thus can be a major fire hazard is not handled properly. (b) 3M HCl Hazards : Strongly corrosive to body tissue and is moderately toxic by ingestion. It can cause severe damage to the eyes, skin, lungs, and the entire respiratory system if inhaled. 2.
