Intel is symbolic of the technology based FDI flowing into the country, they have invested over a billion dollars to build a state of the art chip manufacturing plant. Intel entrusted Vietnam with its single largest factory in the world. i It is expected that FDI for technology purposes will only increase in the future. Many analysts predict a budding technology sector as well as home grown companies to service the large multinational technology companies. The Vietnamese government has made a conceited effort to foster the transfer of technology from foreign firms to Vietnamese national. They have relocated the research centers of the National University to the high-tech parks. The intended goal is to produce more engineers and white color workers with advanced knowledge.
