Vivian Ezike ASL 104 Lori Woods The Father of Deaf African Education My Deaf History presentation was on Andrew Foster. He is considered the Father of Deaf African Education- and for good reason. Throughout his adult life, Foster dedicated his time and efforts educating and caring for the Deaf on the continent of Africa. Foster graduated from Gallaudet and received his Masters Degree from Eastern Michigan University. It seems that all his educational accomplishments were simply stepping stones in his journey to the deaf people in Africa. His background in teaching, as well as his passion for the Deaf and education made him more than perfect for the path his life would lead. After he graduated, Foster traveled to Africa and immediately began helping the people he met there. Foster was a largely religious man, and his dedication and love for his faith clearly fueled his love for the people of Africa. He used his religion to open the door to his life in Africa and spent much of his time teaching the Deaf how to sign and understand the Bible. Foster spent his life trying to
