5-6-06 Exhibition Project For my project, I went to see the “Flowers, Dragons, and Pine Trees,” “Photography Between the Wars,” and “Transformations” exhibits. I was most intrigued and drawn in to the “Flowers, Dragons, and Pine Trees” exhibit, spending about an hour and a half touring its pieces. Because this show was separated by the countries which the textiles were from, I spent a good deal of time in each area, comparing how the pieces related to each other. I found it really interesting to read the panels about how the textiles were used in everyday life and on special occasions. I then spent about 45 minutes in the “Photography Between the Wars,” and “Transformations” exhibits. In “Transformations,” I watched the video on display, read the wall panels, and looked at the pieces. I really liked that they displayed pieces from different times next to each other so it was obvious how some poses and techniques soared across cultures. I think the idea behind “Photography Between the Wars” is how different aspects of life were important to people. Most of the photographs showed people and scenes that would be from their everyday life; focusing on the strongholds of their lives during the turbulent times of war. 1
