Stephanie BougebrayelThroughout America history, there have been many major eras, marking the period of anew concept in American lives. Two of these major eras are the Progressive Era that lasted from1890-1920 and the Ager of American Imperialism that lasted from 1898-1920. Both the of theseeras had a significant impact on the lives of Americans at the time. Today, the impact of theProgressive Era on American lives has out lasted the effect of the Age of American Imperialismthrough a series of acts and regulations enacted during the Progressive Era.The Progressive Era was such a major part of American history because many of thereforms put in place during this time are still around today. In a photo depicting womenprotesting (Doc 3), one can see they are fighting for womens suffrage. Without the protestingthat happened during the Progressive Era, there wouldnt have been a law passing universalsuffrage in the United States until many years to come. The Progressive Era led to the passing ofthe 19thamendment that is clearly still around today, allowing 50 percent of the US population tovote that were previously disenfranchised. This photo was likely taken by a photographer whowas for womens suffrage and wanted the president to see what these suffragettes were fightingfor and pass a law of some sort, granting universal suffrage to any gender. This photo can berelated to what has recently happened all over our nation. Millions of people all around theUnited States gathered this past weekend for the Womens March, fighting for equality. Thepeople who came out this past weekend and fought for equality have assumed the role these
