NURS 6521 N-30 WEEK 6 MAIN DISCUSSION POST 1 NURS 6521 N-30 Week 6 Main Discussion Post Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the Central Nervous System that disrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and body. In MS, damage to the myelin coating around the nerve fibers themselves interferes with the transmission of nerve signals between the brain, spinal cord and the rest of the body (Multiple Sclerosis Society, 2016). MS symptoms are variable and unpredictable. Each person’s symptoms can change or fluctuate over time. Symptoms can include fatigue, walking (gait) disturbances, numbness or tingling (face, body, arms or legs), weakness, vision problems, dizziness and vertigo, bladder and bowel problems, pain and depression (Multiple Sclerosis Society, 2016). There are no symptoms, physical findings or lab tests that can, by themselves, determine if a person has MS. In order to
