CASE STUDY : A pregnant Woman with Gestational Diabetes Mellitus OVERVIEW : Ashley Steward is a married 32-year-old black woman who is a mother of 6-year-old. This is Mrs. Steward second pregnancy, she’s 32 weeks and 3 days that is under prenatal care. Mrs. Steward reported that she has been experiencing frequent urination, weight loss despite increased appetite and blurred vision. The patient past obstetric history includes complications due to late prenatal care and a vaginal delivery of an 8lb,14oz. female infant at 38 weeks’ gestation, 6 years ago, in Miami, Florida. The patient family history reveals father and grandmother of patient has been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The patient reported that she has been experiencing frequent urination, weight loss despite increased appetite and blurred vision. Her height:5’1”, weight:240lb, Temperature:98.7 and Vital Signs: BP 140/90 mmHg, the size of the uterine is appropriate. This patient shows several aspects for gestational diabetes mellitus(GDM). she is has previous family
