Jeffries 1Aaliyah JeffriesAP Lang – Pd. 2Mr. Porcelli21 September 2016College Research PaperWhen going through the college application process, I believe that the most difficult aspect is deciding what school to attend. After conducting research, I’ve realized that my college experience shouldn’t be decided based on what I want to major in, for it should be based on what’ll make my encounter with the school shape who I am. Therefore, when deciding on my ideal college the most important criteria include: location, distance, cost, academic rigor and sports presence. In my opinion, one of the most important factors when choosing a college to attend is location. If you do not feel comfortable where you will be living for the next four years, it is more likely for you to feel miserable. My ideal college setting has to be urban; attending a schoolin a city like Los Angeles, Washington D.C. or Boston will allow me to stay occupied with school related activities and off-campus festivities. According to a student from Howard University Washington D.C. always hassomething to do for all people (Explore Howard University). Because I was raised in an urban setting, the location of the college I attend is imperative. Having the transition from Chicago to Danbury, allowed me to experience life in a fast pace setting and a slower suburban society. A college experience cannot satisfy my needs if it does not make me feel as if I have a second home. An area like Washington D.C., can offer more opportunities than a rural or suburban area could, such as jobs and internships (Our
Jeffries 2Programs). Because cities have a higher population, living within a big city will allow me to develop tolerance when dealing with others. People in these areas are more exposed to various cultures and personalities which allows them to be more prepared for what the world offers. I strongly believe that I cannot get the same learning experience in a smaller society because there is less diversity to encounter (Credit Experts). All in all, the location of the school I attend has to be in a large, rapid community that’ll permit me to learn from others and progress toward my future career.
