Like a resume, a cover letter should be short and focused. Concise cover letters that get directly to the point and convey your selling points in a minimum number of sentences get results. Brilliantly written cover letters packed with information set out in long paragraphs get nothing.

First paragraph Let the employer know what you want. If it is an advertised position, mention it immediately. Let them know a little about you and why you want the job. Good example: I am interested in the position of Design Intern which you have advertised on the fashion.net job site. I am a fashion design student at Drexel University with both work experience and a strong academic foundation in the industry. Bad example:
