Introduction to the Equine Industry History of the Horse 10k years age horses died out in the Americas and dwindles in Europe The modern hors evolved as a grazer of grass and things. Early humans domesticated the horse around 4-3k BC. The horse was originally used as a food source. Through different uses, 3 classifications of horses arose. o Hot Blood o Cold Blood o Pony o Later on the Warmblood arose. Horses in America In the 1500s, horses were introduced back into the Americas o Spaniards exploring the “New World” o These horses became the first Mustangs By the 1800’s the need for horses rose as human population was on the rise.
