Nicholas Munoz MENA 001G Chapter 5 Homework 1- Research the Middle Eastern origins of the dog, cat, horse, sheep, and honeybee. Many different animals had particularly interesting or significant origins or introductions to the early Middle East. For example, dog are thought to have originated in the Middle East. This means that the Middle East is one of the first places to likely have domesticated and used dogs as companions and aids as well as giving rise to the many species of dog we see today. Origins for other animals such as horses, cats and sheep can also be traced back to the Middle East. Other animals such as honeybees saw early domestication in the Middle East to be used for honey and wax cultivation which could be sold and traded. 2- What are the codes of hospitality in your community? Growing up, I have been part of a largely Hispanic or Latino influenced community which has a very particular set of norms regarding hospitality. First and foremost, it can definitely be said that in the Latin community, food is an enormous part to hospitality.
