Identify Theme Worksheet Title of Novel Choice The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald Theme Statement The overall theme of this novel is social stratification. Obvious groups have greater status, power, and wealth than other groups. The author carefully sets up his story into distinct social groups. In the end, each group has its own problems to deal with.
