From the beginning of conception and even the thought of being created, we were uniquely designed in our own DNA. I believe we inherited the genes of our biological parents. But even with that our environment plays a very important part in our behavioral development. I agree that both have influences and overlaps. I believe that heredity establishes a range of possible developmental outcomes that may occur in response to different environments in which people are exposed. I say this because according to Martorell, G., Papalia, D. E., & Feldman, R. D. (2014) “Critics of behavioral genetics claim that its assumptions and methods tend to maximize the importance of hereditary effects and minimize environmental ones. One way this can happen is for parents with certain genetic tendencies to create a home environment that suits those tendencies, and which may also suit and encourage the inherited tendencies of their children.
