Use innovative approaches As such it may be necessary to use different approaches and to try different methods to make your communications innovative and captivating. How this is performed will depend upon the following set of circumstances. These are: f who you are communicating to (and with) f why you are communicating f where you are delivering your communication f what you are expecting to achieve f how you mean to achieve this. If the circumstances of your communications vary widely, this will be difficult to standardise into one delivery method. You will need to be flexible and prepare different ways to communicate, to suit your audience and surroundings. For example, if you are developing ideas for an advertising campaign and are presenting this to senior management, you will be delivering a pitch to promote potential ideas. If developing ideas on a new work project in a team meeting, you will be in a less formal environment and will need to use techniques to draw out and channel creative ideas from work colleagues. Innovative approaches to communication challenges may include: f getting across all key messages in a short space of time f presenting on unfamiliar topics f responding to impromptu situations f structuring information quickly and effectively. Meeting the challenges in communications Part of the challenge will be to ensure you tailor your communications to suit the moment. Make sure you recognise how your audience is reacting and responding to you, and that you use the time you have appropriately in your discussions.
