Rikki White 12/19/14English 104 Chasing EqualityWomen have come a long way in our history. We have started from being property, to housewife, but now we are CEO’s of companies. Like men women can go upthe ladder in jobs even if they have family, this just shows that they are willing to working twice as hard then a man. There are many successful women out there, being politicians, doctors, and entrrupenrurs but sadly are society just labels women has either asex symbol or a housewife. Media is a key factor on how women are portrayed, if you look at the media the only thing they care about is how a women looks. Why is that? Whyshould women only care about her looks and raising a family but not a career? It is time to change the expectations of women and to shape the way for new generations. Women are extraordinary beings we are capable of being a wife, a mother, and hardworking we can jungle it all. However, women are constrained to either having to pick between the working life or having the life of being married and raising their own kids. Throughout all this women are expected to pick the role of being a mom and the housewives because that is what society implies for women to do. Why can’t we have both why are women criticized for having a nanny take care of their child while they are at work. Women deserved the right to be a mother and a CEO of a company without criticism if they choose. From the time that women were capable of voting to now havingwomen as CEO of companies, running their own business, and not needing a man. This
illustrates that women are more than efficient on doing thing on their own without the help of a men. Recently, more women have started to take the role as mom and dad. In the article, “The End of Men” by Hanna Rosin, she address that “According to the Bureau ofLabor Statistics, women now hold 51.4 percent of managerial and professional jobs- up from 26.1 percent in 1980. They make up 54 percent of all accountants and hold about half of all banking and insurance jobs. About a third of America's physicians are now
