Andrew Krimm The Vietnam War vs. The War in Iraq In 1959 the United States entered one of the most pointless wars in our history, the Vietnam War. The Vietnam War was started because the United States, wanted to fight Communism in South East Asia. The idea of the U.S. generals was to keep the Domino Effect from happening. This was popularized in the Eisenhower administration, that if communism was aloud in South Vietnam it would spread to all of South East Asia, then to Hawaii and later to the West Coast of the United States. It would be easier to fight the War in Vietnam than later on U.S. soil. In 2003 The United States entered the other most pointless war in U.S. history, The War in Iraq. We originally went to Iraq because of Saddam Hussein, who apparently was holding “weapons of mass destruction”, but we have now discovered that we had been lied to. There were no weapons of mass destruction just a lot of oil to take control of. Now President Bush says he is going to remove the troops from Iraq. Which is true but he is just going to relocate them to Iran because there are more oil fields in Iran. These wars were so pointless because, neither the War in Iraq nor the Vietnam had exit strategies. The war in Iraq was declared over and George W. Bush named The united States
