Project Proposal For Group 7 1. Name the two independent variables that you plan to manipulate and provide operational definitions of each. The first independent variable was the type of memory test. The first level of this variable was referred to as a recall task which was a test consisting of open-ended and fill-in-the- blank questions. The second level, referred to as a recognition task, was a test consisting of multiple choice questions. The second independent variable was the typicality of the story provided. The first level of this variable, referred to as the typical condition, was a story concerning a couple who had lifestyles and occupations that were consistent with gender roles and gender stereotypes. The second level of this variable was referred to as the atypical condition and was a story concerning a couple whose lifestyles and occupations were inconsistent with gender roles and gender stereotypes. 2. Name the dependent variable(s) that you plan to measure, provide an operational definition of it, and indicate on what type of scale its values will lie. The dependent variable was memory accuracy which was indicated by the number of questions answered correctly measured on the ratio scale. 3. What are the hypotheses that you want to test involving these two independent variables and their possible interaction? Be sure to include three hypotheses: one for each IV and one for their possible interaction. Type of Memory test:
