Professional Painter 2 Paint and fiber evidence is overshadowed by the glamorous DNA evidence in a lot of today’s cases. Most of the time people want to hear that they found a fingerprint or some type of DNA match. I guess this goes back to the CSI Effect that we discussed in week one. Paint and fiber evidence play a big role is solving cases as well. What many people fail to understand that not only do it takes DNA to solve a case, but fibers from clothing or from an animal to paint from a car or some tool or even glass that came from a broken window can serve the same purpose. When paint and fibers evidence is being collected it pretty much goes through the same process just as if one were collecting DNA evidence. It must be collect properly, documented, labeled and tested. Even though, paint can become very hard to use as evidence due to the common use. But a trained investigator knows how to determine sometimes the make and model
