Unformatted text preview: Rose M. Rodriguez English 1013 Growing Up Journal Unlike Alexie who had many big issues to overcome growing up, mine were smaller and less serious. Everything in school and growing up I seem to blame on my father who left my brother, mother, and I. He was an alcoholic big time, forcing my mother to divorce him. My father then found another girl and moved to Austin, Texas. To this day I still dont know why he thought it was the best idea to leave me and my brother. In my younger age I was very ADD, loud, and could not focus on anything. Naturally I was put on Ritalin, the magic pill. Ritalin helped me make good grades but I was sad. Every night I wouldnt sleep, my mind was racing with every thought, I was tired but unable to sleep. I was hungry but unable to eat; it was terrible. Also I couldnt talk to people; I would want to have friends, I wanted to be terrible....
