The main result is the inflammation of blood vessels in the respiratory system and also the kidneys. This inflammation closes the blood vessels and prevents blood flow, permanently destroying tissues and damaging vital organs. It is not a contagious disease, and there is no current evidence suggesting it can be contracted through genetics. There is also no viral or bacterial agent that can be identified for causing WG. It is thought to be an auto immune disease, where the antibodies are being directed towards the body’s own white blood cells. The antibodies bind to the blood cells and form clumps in the blood vessels. This results in a tumor-like inflammation of the blood vessels, cutting of the blood flow.
