The Early Representations Some of the earliest ideals of other realities or worlds started at the turn of the 20th century. In 1902 a French filmmaker named Georges Melies made Le Voyage Dans La Lune (A Trip to the Moon). The film toiled with the idea of life beyond earth. In 1916 Homunculus was mad in Germany by Otto Rippert this series of 6 silent films, which is now almost all lost. Homunculus told the life of a artificial man as he realized his soulless being. This was often seen as a precursor to Films such as Frankenstein. In 1927 Fritz Lang Came out with Metropolis a film set in the year 2026 that told the story of society divided by two rigid groups as well as a futuristic cityscape and robots.
