Why the firm has chosen to use embark upon a joint venture in order to internationalise and promote the growth of the Sustainable Harvest Group (SHG). Energy efficiency is a current global topic that many businesses are not immune to as more and more countries become signatories to the Kyoto Protocol and internally nations are developing their own ‘green’ standards for business and individuals. SHG “centres on carbon emission reporting solutions, carbon emission regulations, and carbon management strategies for large corporate entities and small to medium enterprises” 1 , and so it is very much a company looking to take advantage of the situation in a positive manner. There are four main motivations for international expansion: - Market-Seeking. - Resource-Seeking. - Efficiency-Seeking. - Strategic Asset-Seeking. All of which could, and should, apply to SHG in its attempt at internationalisation. The firm’s success in entering into Japan will be a benefit to all stakeholders in the business, but not just shareholders and employees, but also the community at large and the environment, and under some
