Part 4 My perception of the problem of homelessness has changed somewhat. When I first sat down to do this project I had to think for a while of a problem that I could address that would be worthwhile and actually make a difference in society. I had to sit and think for a while and nothing was coming to me. When I finally thought of homelessness I realized how big of an issue it is and how many parts of the nation it affects. It took me a while to think of this because I think in a way many Americans have come to expect to see many homeless people on the streets when they go into cities but that there is nothing they can really do to alleviate the problem but put a couple quarters in their cup and be on their

Unformatted text preview: way. No one really thinks THEY can actually help to alleviate a problem like homelessness, that some agency or government group will. But really in the end it is the citizens and people of the community who must begin trying to make changes and to make a difference in their own communities. After completing this project my hopes for the future are fairly optimistic about alleviating this problem. With today’s economy and all the different agencies working for public welfare more of an emphasis should be focused on reducing homelessness and helping these people on the streets, educating and rehabilitating, because no one should have to live a life on the streets in this new millennium....
