Margarita Diosdado History 370 Professor Mollno May 30, 2007 Final Exam 1. It was due to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor that internment camps were created. The Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce decided to have all Japanese interned, including Japanese- Americans. In 1942, the FDR signs Executive Order 9066 which allows any designated Commander to set military areas that allow any or all person to be excluded from that area. In March of 1942 the evacuation of Japanese, American or not, had begun. Over 110,000 Japanese were interned. The conditions at the Japanese internment were anything, but nice according to Yoshiko Uchida, a Nisei (2 nd generation Japanese American-born), in Desert Exile . Yoshika and her family experienced two different internment camps. Male Japanese were first taken by the FBI from their families in order to investigate them much like Yoshika’s father. He was taken to Immigration Detention Quarters and then later transferred to Montana. The rest of the family was
