Scott Lee MUS 15 Extra Credit 30 May 2008 Extra Credit 1 The Doors were an American rock band produced in 1965 in Los Angeles by vocalist Jim Morrison, keyboardist Ray Manzarek, drummer John Densmore, and guitarist Robby Krieger. They were a controversial band, mainly because of Morrison’s enigmatic lyrics and erratic stage persona. The band broke up in 1972, only a year after Morrison’s death in 1971. In total, they have sold more than 45 million albums in the US alone, and continue to sell successfully at 1 million annually. The Doors’ music during the 1965-68 period was a brilliant combination of hard rock, blues-rock, and acid rock. They were known for their addicting music as well as their off-the-wall live performances. In one incident, they wanted to see how they looked live on television, so

They were farfetched in that manner and were innovators as well as a source of inspiration. In 1978, they came together for a reunion with the third post-Morrison album, An American Prayer , which was released around the year 1978. It was made up of the band adding a track to rare and never before seen footage of recordings of Morrison performing his poetry. The record was a commercial success even after Morrison’s death. Today, they continue to sell records and their impact in the music industry will never be forgotten....
