Office Hours: T and R 1:30-2:45 PM and 4:30-5:30 PM and by appointment in Building 42/3506 Course Description and Prerequisites: This course is an in-depth analysis of financial statements and of the bases which underlie their preparation. It presents a thorough understanding of the process of income determination and of asset and liability measurement, as well as the distortions to which these may be subject. This course assumes a solid background in financial accounting (ACG 2021 or its equivalent) and in the principles of financial management as contained in the prerequisite FIN 3403 (FMI) or its equivalent. Required: Textbook: Financial Reporting & Analysis (13th ed.) by Charles H Gibson The Wall Street Journal (provided) Financial calculator (TI BA II Plus Professional suggested) Some graded assignments may require the use of Microsoft Excel Course Success: Class attendance and participation is critical for success. Come prepared for class! Read the textbook and complete any recommended not for credit assignments. Bring the text book and a calculator to class so you can follow and participate in problem solving.
