Loved the outdoors as a child Attended Harvard The Stamp Act was a symbol of European tyranny. Adams wrote articles for the Boston Gazette about Europe’s tyrannical acts against America. Adams voiced his opinion on the British often through the articles he wrote. He was a believer in “unalienable rights” and defended the soldiers in the Boston Massacre trial. This shows that he wanted America to be the best it could, even if it meant defending the enemy in trial. He won the case. He spoke out against Thomas Hutchinson, governor of Massachusetts. Thomas Jefferson said that John Adams was “the pillar … [of the independence movement] on the floor of the congress, its ablest advocate and defender”.
