POLS 3700: Take home final Due in hard copy to Dr. Anderson (Matthews Daniel 232) by 12:00 p.m. on Monday, December 7, 2015. Emailed exams will not be accepted without prior approval, nor will late exams be accepted. Assignment: We spent the last 3 rd of the semester researching Senate bills and understanding through a simulation how the Senate passes bills. The final exam continues the study of Congressional policy by asking you to examine your own position on an issue, analyze it and support it by research. For your final exam, you must put yourself in the role of a Congressional policy analyst. You may choose any ideology- liberal, conservative or other, but you must find evidence for and justify your position. Immigration policy has become a hot button issue for the 2016 Presidential election, but it is Congress that will ultimately decide which, if any, of the candidates’ immigration reforms will take effect. The immigration debate centers in large part on the following 4 questions. 1. Should there be a complete U.S./Mexico border fence? 2. Should the U.S. end birthright citizenship? 3. Should there be a path to citizenship for unauthorized immigrants? 4.Should the use of E-verify be mandatory?
