Emily KernProfessor IvyBenedict ArnoldOn January 14, 1741, Benedict Arnold was born in Connecticut. Later in his family had financial hardship. So Arnold was unable to go to school. He became an apprentice to Daniel and Joshua Lathrop who had an Apothecary business and was employed there for many years. After his parents died, Arnold went to Europe for supplies to start his own Apothecary in New Haven, with his sister as an assistant. Later on, his business became known for smuggling goods. He married Margaret Mansfield in 1767 and had 3 sons. She would later die in 1775.As a captain of the Governors Second Company of Guards, he fought with Ethan Allen and the Green Mountain Boys to capture Ft. Ticonderoga, though not without disagreements. Later, when Allen and Arnold began to plan an invasion into Canada, Arnold got into an altercation with Colonel Easton because he was diminishing his
