Joshua Oberholtzer Dr. Michael Boyle Spk 208 6/3/2008 Introduction: Have you ever tried to make a movie when you were a little kid? What makes that movie seem so much worse than the movies we see in Hollywood? Besides the shaky shooting, cheesy dialogue, and lack of a plot. Besides the obvious factors the difference mostly lies in a bunch of small things. Thesis: I’m going to tell you how to make a movie the way the professionals do. 1-2-3 Preview: I will go over the three steps in filmmaking preproduction, production, and postproduction. Body Claim One: Preproduction is the first sage of video production. 1. Come up with ideas and write script “pre-production planning, which includes scripts, concept drawings, and story boards” (The reel deal. by Johnson) 2. Storyboarding gives you an idea of what the scene will look like. 3. “Every minute spent on pre-production is worth ten times that at any other stage.” (DIGITAL GRASSROOTS: A PRACTICAL GUIDE TO DIGITAL VIDEO) Signpost 1-2:
