Psych Notes Paper – go to library, do research Look at intro to their article for advice William James thought all psychologists were concerned with problems William Perry – students go through stages of learning, intellectual and moral development in college years Stages or “styles” students pass through Dualism – searching for dichotomies where none exist, all responses are exact, black and white, right or wrong Multiplicity – can have different response for same question. Responses are all equally valid though, can’t be graded on opinion – can’t tell difference between opinion and reasoned response – refuse to judge, question b/c “everyone is the same” “ever explanation are equally valid” – make excuses o Wrong, some answers are more valid than others – must come to best conclusion based on evidence – “relativistic judgment” Relativism – perspectives are used to put together to larger, whole answer Detachment and see big picture, “think analytically, evaluate own ideas as well as
