Evil or not to be: Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein In Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein , Victors creature was often misunderstood an example such as this quote “I am an unfortunate and deserted creature, I look around and I have no relation or friend upon earth. These amiable people to whom I go have never seen me and know little of me. I am full of fears, for if I fail there, I am an outcast in the world forever.” (118). The creature was not an evil character in the book because people were mean and misunderstanding towards him, and all he wanted was to be cared for and loved, and sadly he was all alone in this world and sometimes had acted out in a bad manner. The first reason I think the creature was not evil is because people were very mean and misunderstanding towards him. Victor his creator was very mean towards him, he had said he cursed the day he was given life. Frankenstein had also made a comment on it to Victor about being created. He stated, “Hateful day when I received life!” I exclaimed in agony. Accursed creator! Why did you form a monster so hideous that even you turned from me in disgust? God,
