Discuss the purpose of conducting an organizational needs assessment. What needs have youidentified in your clinical/practicum setting? What tools did you utilize to determine that need? What will the focus of your project be?The purpose of conducting an organization’s needs assessment is that it assists organizations indetermining what needs to be accomplished to reach project goals and informs a project’s overallplan and approaches by helping organizations identify targeted strategies and prioritize resources(O'Donnell, 2022). Needs that have been identified in a Cardiothoracic Transplant ICUleadership practicum include staffing, equipment, and process/procedure revisions post-covid.During clinical, observations of utilizing leadership rounding and 360 feedback have providedhelpful information when conducting a needs assessment. The focus of my specific project willbe a process and procedure revision on nurse-led rounding. Now that the permanent staff, nursesand providers, have all returned to normal function on the Cardiothoracic Transplant IntensiveCare Unit, a new process for “nurse-led” rounding can be implemented to better improve patientcare. A “report sheet” needs to be created in order to organize and standardize the reporting onmultidisciplinary rounds process. This report sheet will be completed by the primary nurse andwill serve as a tool to present the patient during rounds.
