Race Racial Formation Definition Social construction whereby physical characteristics are accorded biological significance by the dominant group(s) in society The political process by which the dominant(s) group in society establish the content and importance of racial categories. It is subject to contest and resistance (change) e. Racism and Bigotry Bigot Racist Definition A person who is utterly intolerant of any differing belief, creed, or opinion A person who believes in racism, the doctrine that a certain human race is superior to all others Discrimination Discriminated on the basis of a person’s religion, ethnicity, national origin, secual orientation, gender, disability, socioeconomic status, etc. Discriminated on the basis of race Behavior Blinkered, narrow-mindedness, usually also very intolerant and unable to see anyone else’s point of view Believes in the superiority of one race over another, or acts differently (usually negatively) towards a person or a group of people because of their race.
