Study Aids Activities I. Activity 5 a. Select a chapter from one of your textbooks and describe four aids from that chapter that you might use before reading the text. i. I chose my Business Foundation for Your Future textbook for my MIS 311 class. I’m reading Chapter 2: Personality and Perception. First I could use the Table of contents to see what I would want to read. I could use the Chapter Title to get the main idea of what I’m going to be reading about. Then I could use Chapter summary and review questions together to get a better understanding of the material. b. Use a different type of textbook from another course. Select a chapter and describe four aids in that chapter that you might use before reading the text. i. I used my Calculus: Single Variable textbook M408D. I’m reading Chapter 11: Sequences and Series. Textbook title will make sure I’m reading the right book. Then I would Table of contents to navigate where I would want to go. Then to get an even better idea of the chapter, I can read the chapter review and plot outline . Finally, to reinforce my knowledge I can read the review questions. II. Activity 6 a. Select a chapter from one of your textbooks and describe four aids from that chapter that you might use while reading the text. i. I’m reading my Biology text book, and chose Chapter 3: Cell Structure. While I’m reading I can use List of key terms if I don’t understand a word. Then I would look it up in the glossary . While I’m reading, and over come another topic, I can look it up in the Index . Then I can make sure I understood what I read by reading the review questions. b. Using a different type of textbook from another course, select a chapter and describe four aids in that chapter that you might use while reading the text. i. I chose my Macroeconomic CD text book, chapter 5: Fiscal Policy. Since this book is on the cd, I can use web based materials , and Marginal notes as I read. The graphs and charts will serve as my graphics which will better my understanding. Then I can make
