The Cell Cycle Genome - An organism’s genetic material Chromosomes - Linear strand of DNA with associated proteins found in the nucleus of eukaryotic cells. Centromere - specialized connection region between two sister chromatids; also site of microtubule attachment during mitotic spindle formation (kinetochore ) Sister chromatids - Two identical strands of DNA attached to each other following DNA replication Mitotic (M) Phase - Phase which includes Mitosis and cytokinesis Interphase - Period of cell growth and DNA replication Cleavage furrow - shallow groove in cell surface near metaphase plate where cytokinesis initiates; Consists of a contractile ring of microfilaments (actin) linked with myosin proteins
