The three dynasties lasted from 581 through 1279, and went through several emperors, military campaigns, and rise and falls. Each emperor in each dynasty contributed to the significantly to political structures, social and economic life during each of the dynasties.The Sui Dynasty was created in 581 after close to four centuries of division in China. The founding Emperor was Yang Jian, was responsible for the establishment of the capital Chang’an. During his leadership there was a reunion of Southern and Northern China. He created monasteries and appointed monks to be political advisors. During his reign the construction of the Grand Canal was started. The canal was to make a connection from the capital between the Wei River and Yellow River. Yang Jian’s son Emperor Sui Yangdi completedthe Grand Canal during his reign.
