Madison Wright, Madalina, Bailey, Ashley 2.10.16 Period 7 Percentage Yield Lab Purpose: The purpose of this lab was to turn sodium acetate into the reaction below- NaHCO 3 (s) + HC2H 3 O 2 (aq) ---> NaC 2 H 3 O 2 (aq) CO 2 (g) + H 2 O (1) The process involved adding aqueous acetic to sodium hydrogen carbonate. The following are the three products that were used during the making of the reaction; CO 2 , H 2 O and NaHCO 3 . We got the percentage yield by getting the expected yield and contrasting it to the actual yield. Materials: 1. Bunsen Burner 2. Beaker 3. Evaporating dish 4. Ring stand 5. Scale 6. Tongs 7. Pipette 8. Sodium Hydrogen 9. Acetic acid 10. Carbonate 11. Lighter 12. Goggles 13. Stirrer 14. Wire gauze 15. Clay triangle 16. Soap and water Procedures: 1. Set up the Bunsen burner. 2. Sanitize the evaporating dish. 3. Weigh evaporating dish and record the mass of it, being sure the scale is set to zero after you place the dish on it. 4. Add about 2.0 g of NaHCO 3 to the evaporating dish and record the mass of NaHCO 3 added.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
