Running Head: THE ROBO-BUTLER 1 The Robo-Butler Darol Burdge Kaplan University SS250-02 1/17/2017
THE ROBO-BUTLER 2 The Robo-Butler When thinking about a device or gadget that can make everyday life easier there are many ideas that come to mind. A device that can fold laundry, a device that can cook for you and a device that can change diapers on a child are all ideas that came to mind. Rather than designing a device that could perform one of these tasks, I decided that the best course of action would be to design something that could do all of these things and more. The concept that I came up with is the Robo-Butler. This device would be a robot that could take the place of a maid or butler in a household. This robotic device would be able to perform normal domestic duties such as folding laundry and cleaning the house but it would also be able to learn specific tasks through software upgrades and observation. As time and technology progresses the Robo-Butler will also have the ability to be upgraded so that it will be able to adjust to future household duties. The Robo-Butler will be roughly the same size as an average human being. With an overall height of 66 inches and a width of 24 inches. The depth of the unit will be about 10 inches at the top and 24 inches at the bottom. The base of the device will be thicker than the top because the batteries will be stored there. This will aid in keeping the Robo-Butler stable as the weight of the batteries in a low position will maintain a low center of gravity for the machine.
