20 07 秋, CH50 語言討論會 5 第五課 獨生子女文化 中國大陸的獨生子女政策 For the Language Practicum on 10/2 6 , we will have a discussion on China’s One Child Policy ( 一家一個孩子的人口政策 / 獨生子女政策 ). At this language practicum, we will talk about the advantages and disadvantages of this unique population policy from different angles. We will also discuss its influences over different aspects of the Chinese society in the long run. At the beginning of the practicum, the discussion leader will give a brief introduction of this topic. At the end of the practicum, the discussion leader will summarize the discussion and highlight the good points that appeared during the discussion. The rest of the students will choose a role (see below) and prepare a 2 3 minute talk to express their points of view. After everyone has given his/her talk, the discussion leader will facilitate a free discussion in which each student comments on at least one of his/her classmates’ viewpoints. During the discussion session, everyone needs to pay attention to each other’s opinion so as to engage in a meaningful discussion. If you don’t understand what someone else is saying, you can ask him/her to explain. Please also refer to the handout on discourse devises in order to make your speech more cohesive and more appropriate.
