NSTRUCTIONS
Portfolios can supplement grades and show supporting evidence of a learner’s achievement and
growth. You will create a portfolio, establish a rubric, and create a rating form. The portfolio
must be created for a particular group of students in an authentic context.
Ideas for topics may include the following: math problem-solving ability, geography map skills,
science problem-solving ability, writing proficiency, etc.
Complete the template below. Refer to the Learning Activity 2 Grading Rubric for explanations
of each section. Refer to your textbook for additional information. Be sure to include a title page
in current APA format.

Educational purpose of portfolio:
A portfolio is
a form of assessment used to show growth and achievement throughout the school
year.
This portfolio is designed to show students proficiency in writing b
y evaluating their use
of punctuation, spelling, grammar, capitalization, and ability to write
three specific genre
pieces. The genre pieces that will be written about include opinion pieces,
explanatory/informative, and narratives with real or imagined experiences. This portfolio will
give students the opportunity to reflect
on their stenghths and weakness in their writing to allow
for further growth in their writing. This portfolio
will provide a snapshot of what the students is
learning in the classroom to the teacher, parent, as well as to the student.
This portfolio will
monitor students progress and growth in writing throughout the school year and will be passed
on to subsequent teachers as they progress through school.

write about
a specific genre. The semesters are divided up as follows:
