AIR CARGO LEADERS 2 Air Cargo Leaders DHL Express is founded in California by Larry Hillblom, Adrian Dalsey and Robert Lynn in 1969. The company based itself on international door to door delivery and emphasized on over-night or express delivery; they invented the international air express industry. The companies initially only served San Francisco, California and Honolulu, Hawaii, but rapidly expanded into international territory. The company was then acquired by Deutsche Post in 1998 and finally gain ownership in 2001 ("DHL: Corporate - DHL's History", n.d.). Federal Express(FedEx) was founded by Fred Smith in 1971 in Little Rock Arkansas. Fred Smith conceptualized that increasingly interest in information technology requires a better logistic system in place, the airfreight shippers relied on passenger route systems, but those didn’t make economic sense for urgent shipments. The company started overnight operation on April 17, 1973, with 14 aircrafts and 168 parcel to deliver. From then on, FedEx expanded its operation domestically, until 1984 where it started intercontinental operations. In 1989, FedEx
