Modern World 122 February 8, 2008 Writing Assignment # 1 Classical Liberalism In the 18 th and early 19 th century, a series of revolutions and civilian uprisings led to the collapse monarchies around the world. In particular, the Americans separation from their home country made a great inspiration for countries in Europe as well. This liberalistic uprising tended to focus on the need for natural rights, limitations of the government, and civil liberties citizens claimed they were withheld by their previous government authority. I plan to explain how the reconstruction of government was expressed throughout the American and French revolutions. A large part of this political revolution was the pursuit of liberty and equality. Traditionally monarchs believed it was their duty to regulate people’s beliefs. The people that protested such restraints believed in individual human rights. In addition to human rights revolutionary liberals preached sovereignty. Therefore people needed legislators to
