Week 6What impact did Mikhail Gorbachev's ideas of glasnost (openness), perestroika (restructuring) and demokratizatsiia (democratization) have on Communist society? Were these principles compatible with collectivization and a command economy? Did Communist leaders favor these principles or did they feel that their hand were tied once they were introduced into Communist society?Gorbachev ideas for the Soviet Union were to give the citizens a better life. Russia supported him and communist did not like him. Russia was in an economic depression and stayed in it for a couple years due to the fact that people did not know to live in an economy where there was a free market.
