1 CHEM 024b: Introductory University Chemistry for Engineers Midterm Examination WSC 55 2–4 pm, Saturday February 17 th , 2007 Important information and instructions. Please read carefully. (1) This exam is made up of 25 multiple choice questions and 5 short answer questions. (2) This question booklet contains the multiple choice questions ONLY. It has 8 pages. You may use this booklet for your working. You must hand these in, but they will not be graded. If you require more rough paper, it will be provided to you. Fill in your answers to the multiple choice questions on the Scantron sheets provided. (3) To fill in the Scantron sheet, use an HB pencil only. Do not use ink. Do not bend or fold the sheet. If you need to erase, do so carefully and completely. (4) Before you begin the exam, print and sign your name at the top left of the Scantron sheet. Write your student number in the nine boxes above “student number” at top left, and enter your number by filling in the nine boxes below. Note that the top row of rectangles corresponds to 0, not 1. (5) Answer the short answer questions on the separate sheet provided. Write your name and your TA’s name on that sheet before you begin the exam. (6) A formula sheet and periodic table are provided separately. (7) You have 2 hours. Answer all questions.
