Karen Rosenberger April 21, 2008 Org. Crime: Dr. Britz Extra Credit – Louis Farrakhan Louis Farrakhan is the acting leader of the Nation of Islam. There has been much controversy surrounding Louis Farrakhan and his beliefs. Many people claim that Louis Farrakhan is racist, homophobic, and anti-Semitic. He has even been called the black Hitler on many occasions in response to some of his beliefs. He has taken this as a compliment. In Farrakhan’s Saviours’ Day Speech, he repeatedly bashed Jewish people and made racist remarks. This speech was given on February 26, 2006 at the United Center in Chicago. The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) claimed that Louis Farrakhan used this day and this speech to spread his message of hate for Jewish people, homosexual people, and non-black people to the audience and to fellow members of the Nation of Islam. Malik Zulu Shabazz was also a speaker at the Saviours’ Day event; Malik Zulu Shabazz is the leader of the New Black Panther Party.
