ACism Notes *In the third stage, the professional therapist will be making notes on the behavior of the  individual and will be making observations about the individual *they will explain back to the ACic the types of behaviors that they've been noticing and  been told about *the therapist needs to be as clear and concise as possible when talking about this (this is  what I see and hear,this is my opinion) and we think you need help *In the next step, the person will want to defend themselves and rationalize their behavior *DO NOT let the person rationalize their behavior--ex--"I only drink when. ." or "I only drink  if. ."---don't let them talk their way out of it *One of the major goals of the intervention is to establish that the drinking is the source of  the bulk of the problems in the ACics life *Next stage---once again, the person is still in denial---so then you bring others in to the  picture *Show evidence of other people noticing the change in his/her life---in other words, other  people see that the ACic has changed and that the ac has affected that person's life *You're keeping the fact that other people have the problem in the ACics face---they can't  escape that fact *Next, the therapist should express some kind of hope to the patient---show what
